Meet Me Book Events does not support authors or vendors who use Gen AI in their creative works from writing their book, through to editing or the use of covers and character art. We, the hosts, do not use Gen AI for the event, nor do we condone the use of it in the practices above.
We also will not allow Gen AI produced products on tables on the day. We ask that if any attendee have concerns with an attending author or vendor using Gen AI in their works, that they come to us with their concerns so we can investigate and act accordingly. We want to create a safe place for those with concerns.
Unless an author or artist explicitly announces that they are using GenAI, in the interest of fairness, we will not speculate on ‘probably’, we will not be considering action against that author or vendor. In addition to this, we will not be feeding work into “AI checkers” as this only serves to feed the AI learning tools which results in false positive readings. For example, classics such as Moby Dick are now being flagged as AI written.
How an author or vendor chooses to market themselves is up to them, it is their business to run, and it has no impact on us as event organisers. We also are not going to police how someone runs their business as that is not our job to do so. We leave that up to the consumer and how they wish to support their authors and events.
As this is a fairly new concept for event planning, we are in the process of creating a full policy and will share it on our socials, in our emails and on all future EOI registrations so all authors and vendors are aware of our stance going forward.
In summary, Meet Me Book Events will not support Gen AI written and produced books and art to be displayed on the day, nor do we support the “authors” supplying such. We will not be governing marketing done by authors or vendors, this is wholly a consumer based decision, and not ours as event hosts.
